Ermes Seaplanes ERMES is a young company that mainly deals with seaplanes and amphibians flying. It comes from the enthusiasm and passion of its founders who, after years of professional experience in aviation and technology outside the region, have decided to reintroduce these fascinating aviation activities. Ermes offers the opportunity to experience the flight by seaplane and continue operating at the flight school. The flight school is also open to pilots who already hold a license or VDS certificate, which want to attend the training courses enabling for ULM hydro/amphibian class according to the new regulation of recreational flight. Ermes also ensures the availability of its corporate fleet for regular flight operations through the leasing of aircrafts. Aero tourism activity, the spreading and promotion of Sicilian natural beauties are another area of the association’s activity, which conducts advertising activity and the call of pilots and non-resident followers. ERMES carries out activities of civil and environmental protection and is actively involved in rescue and relief operations.

Kite surfing Kite surfing is an involving extreme sport, which gives a double sensation of gliding on the water at full speed and taking off like a sea gull raised by wind. These make it one of the most fascinating sports to be practiced. It is also quite dangerous and difficult to learn and it takes a proper physical and mental readiness before starting. That’s why we provide our students all of our experience in teaching and practicing such a sport. The key points that we face in the classes are safety and fun that people must draw form such a sport. The kite or “wing” is connected to 2, 4 and 5 wires that vary between 20-30 meters of length to a horizontal bar that varies in length from 45 to 60 cm, depending on the kite size, which serves to guide the kite There are two types of kites: inflatable kites and box kites (similar to glider wings). The inflatable kites consist of: a high-pressure inflatable structure, which becomes rigid and allows the kite to re launch when falling in water, and to make it unsinkable; a spinnaker type fabric. Box kites instead, don’t have a rigid structure: the wind conveyed into “no return” vents inflates the kite, which remains under pressure. The size of the wings vary from 5 square meters for strong intensity winds to the current thirty square meters that currently represent the maximum extension found for a light breeze (with breeze under 8 knots its better doing other things…). The kite surf can glide with really light wind of about 8-10 knots (it depends very much on the sides of the kite and from the board): its traction is very different from that of an ordinary windsurf, because a concept of “apparent wind” is introduced. The kite, in addition of having a forward push like that of a windsurf also exploits the energy of a decent and ascent, by creating the apparent wind i.e. more wind that is actually there, creating wonderful evolutions carried out by some professionals. |
